MOTOR TOURISTS FROM THE SILVER READER CLUB TO VALENCIA ON THE CAMINO DEL CID

Around a hundred motorcyclists have left Vivar del Cid today heading for Valencia, on a trip along the Camino del Cid that will take them to the capital of Turia in three days.
Burgos, September 19, 2024. The motorcycles have roared again in Vivar del Cid. The members of the Silver Reader motorcycle club have started their trip today to the homeland of the Campeador “with tears in their eyes”, as narrated in the Cantar de Mío Cid.
The initiative will allow almost a hundred participants to delve into the rich heritage of the route along 1,200 kilometers, following the literary and historical footsteps of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar.
The Camino del Cid is, in essence, a literary route, since its backbone is the verses of the Cantar de mío Cid, the great Hispanic medieval epic poem and one of the great European epic poems. These verses lead the traveller through sparsely populated territories of great wealth and diversity, far from the main communication routes, along winding and quiet roads that have earned it this year the Mototurismo 2024 Award for the best National Route.
The first day of the route will take place on September 19 between Vivar del Cid and Sigüenza, in Guadalajara. The second, on September 20, between this town and Teruel. And the last, on the 21st, between the capital of Teruel and Chilches, in Castellón.
In addition to Vivar del Cid, the route through the province of Burgos will pass through emblematic places such as the monastery of San Pedro de Cardeña, Covarrubias, Santo Domingo de Silos, Caleruega, or Peñaranda de Duero. Participants will arrive at Vivar del Cid at five in the afternoon to register and receive credentials, and will depart from this same town the following day “with tears in their eyes” (as the Cantar de mío Cid says) between 08:30 and 09:30 in the morning.
